‘By Any Means’ secures worldwide distribution deal

It is with great pleasure that ‘By Any Means’ has secured a worldwide distribution deal with major independent film distribution company Gravitas Ventures, and will be released on all media outlets on June 27th 2017.

‘Mother of All Secrets’

I am honoured to announce that I will be scoring the music for Triventure Films’ second feature, another fantastic psychological thriller titled ‘Mother of All Secrets’ directed by Bermudian filmmaker Lucinda Spurling and starring Emmy Award winning actress Kate Mansi, Brooke Burfitt who also starred in ‘By Any Means’, and Kelly McGillis who is widely known for her performance in ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Witness’. The creative process of composing this score is set to be an exciting one, and I’m greatly looking forward to adding to the high drama and tension of the film, set and filmed on the sunny holidaymaker’s paradise that is Bermuda.

‘By Any Means’ wins Best Film award at Wexford Film Festival

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that ‘By Any Means’ has won the award for Best Film at the Wexford Film Festival. The film was officially selected out of a large number of high quality submissions to be screened and to close the festival, and on the closing night at the festival’s award ceremony after the films world premiere, ‘By Any Means’ won the award for Best Film! I am thrilled to have been the composer of this movie, and am looking forward to many more showcases of the film worldwide.

By Any Means

I am absolutely delighted to say that this year I have composed the score for my first feature film, ‘By Any Means’, the debut feature of Bermuda based production company Triventure Films. ‘By Any Means’ is a dark mystery thriller which tells the story of a C list celebrity (played by Brooke Burfitt) who is kidnapped after a nightclub appearance and held hostage for a ransom of $123,000 by a man who is desperate to save his dying daughter (played by Thomas Gipson). Scoring the music for ‘By Any Means’ has been a pleasure and a privilege, and it has been a great creative experience to have been able to explore the characters and their motivations and bring out in the score the essence of their flawed perspectives and relationships, and express the underlying message in music. The high production values and the edgy and unnerving night shots of Brooklyn and Manhattan have provided great inspiration throughout the scoring process. I very much look forward to continuing a highly fruitful long term working relationship with Triventure Films.

Premiere of ‘Sonnet XL’ by the Brighton Chamber Choir on Saturday July 11th 2015

July 14, 2015

The first premiere of my composition for A Capella SATB Choir and Solo Soprano, based on the text of Shakespeare’s Sonnet XL, was premiered by the Brighton Chamber Choir on Saturday July 11th 2015 at the beautiful St Margarets Church in the village of Rottingdean, Brighton. The Brighton Chamber Choir performed the piece spectacularly, and I’m delighted to say that the composition itself received wonderful feedback from the audience. Prior to the premiere, the European Women’s Audiovisual Network published an online article about ‘Sonnet XL’ and my commission from the Brighton Chamber Choir, which can be read by visiting: ewawomen.com

Brighton Chamber Choir – premiere of Sonnet XL to music

June 25, 2015

It has been a fantastic experience and opportunity to compose for the Brighton Chamber Choir, whose president is Sir Simon Rattle. I have had the honour of composing an original choral work for the choir to premiere at their Jubilee year summer concert, ‘Sonnet and Song’. Putting music to a Shakespeare Sonnet has been both creatively stretching and rewarding, and from what I heard at the first rehearsal in May, I am extremely excited at what’s to come!

Fired

June 25, 2015

I have recently finished scoring ‘Fired’, a short dark comedy drama exploring themes of respect. I composed a soundtrack which was dark, with lots of deep throbbing bass lines and tense pad sounds, with a recurring motif which I stated in different instruments to represent each character. I had the privilege of BAFTA winning sound designer and sound editor Martin Pavey who mixed my soundtrack.  I’m very happy with the result and have received fantastic feedback from the director, and I wish ‘Fired’ every possible success – it deserves it!!

The 50th Anniversary of Harold and Esmeralda

November 4, 2014

I am excited to announce my next film project ‘The 50th Anniversary of Harold and Esmeralda’, which is a powerful psychological thriller about the onset of Alzheimer’s and how it can alter the brain and relationships, whilst dark stories from the past unfold. This is a Crowded Pictures production, directed, written and produced by Guido Lippe.

International Chef Exchange

June 19, 2014

I am delighted to be working for the new Brighton based TV company and station, Latest TV, who will be broadcasting 24/7 on Channel 8 from Autumn 2014. I have composed the music for their reality series ‘International Chef Exchange’ which focuses on chefs from the UK and the Netherlands who swap kitchens and showcase their skills and the cuisine from their home regions.  The series is produced by Andrew Kay and will be available for International syndication. Keep an eye out for it on your screen on Channel 8 very soon!

Did Not Finish

June 19, 2014

I have had the pleasure of working for theatre company, Theatre Akimbo, on a play that was part of their Scripted 4 competition which opened the Wonder of Words Festival in Sussex. The play is ‘Did Not Finish’ by James Whitey and is about 3 people who are all on the brink of suicide, but come to realise in the end what they have to live for. The play was staged on Sunday 15th June at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing, West Sussex. The composition process for this was an inspiring experience, and I look forward to many more collaborations with Artistic Director Glenda Harkess and Theatre Akimbo!
